There are a variety of different weapons players can choose from in Tears of the Kingdom, and for those that favor the spear, these are the best ones.

In The Legend of Zelda series Link has access to a number of different weapons, a trend that continues with Tears of the Kingdom. There are 6 different weapon types and one of those weapon types are spears. Spears are bladed weapons that can strike and attack enemies at a longer distance than most swords.

Depending on the spear, it can unleash a flurry of attacks faster than a sword, but it is a two-handed weapon, meaning Link won't be able to hold his shield and the spear simultaneously. Tears of the Kingdom includes almost all the same spears that were inBreath of the Wild with a few new additions from the Zonai. The ability to fuse weapons allows all spears, and weapons to be stronger than they are, but there are certain spears that are strong even at base level.

Zonaite weapons are a new class of weapon that comes with Tears of the Kingdom. While all metal weapons on the surface are decayed, Zoniate weapons are a more commonly found, strong weapon that a player won't have to use fusion to make it useful. The Mighty Zonaite Spear can be found inside Lomei Castle on the Sky Islands, or one can be dropped by Zonai Construct enemies after defeating them.

The Mighty Zonaite Spear has a base attack of about 8 but what makes this spear one of the best in the game is its passive ability, Zonaite-Powered. Weapons with this passive ability can have their attack power increased when fused with Zonai devices. Fusing it with one of the Elemental Emitters or the Beam Emitter or Cannon will make the Mighty Zonaite Spear a double threat for any of Link's enemies.

The Great Hyrule Forest was a difficult area to get into in Breath of the Wild, and it's only become more difficult in Tears of the Kingdom. Going through the Lost Woods is the tried and true method, though for players who are more daring, they can find a way to Great Hyrule Forest through the Minshi Woods Chasm and travel through the Depths. Make sure to have the Flame Guard Armor equipped when using this travel route. Whatever way players choose to use to make it to Great Hyrule Forest one of their rewards will be the Forest Dweller's Spear.

While it has base damage of 13, which is pretty average, its passive ability Fuse Recycling makes it a weapon worth getting. Fuse Recycling means that the material used with the weapon can be used over and over again, without it being destroyed. This means the Forest Dweller Spear is one of the best versatile weapons to have, as players can customize it to their needs.

The ornate Royal Halberd was once the weapon of knights that guarded the most critical areas of the Castle. The Royal Halberd can usually in be found in two different areas, one is within Hyrule Castle and the other is in the East Necluda, so it's a good idea to be on the lookout for one when heading to Hateno Village.

It has a base attack of 15 and the passive ability Improved Flurry Rush. Link can perform Flurry Rush after a perfectly time dodge and a follow-up attack. Time slows down, and it allows Link to get in as many hits as possible before the enemy can react. A normal Flurry Rush is strong, so an Improved Flurry Rush is a very powerful thing to possess.

The Lightscale Trident is rare a weapon that most fans of Breath of the Wild will recognize. It's a Zora-made weapon that once belonged to Princess Mipha. The weapon that Sidon wields is a replica of his beloved Sister's Lightscale Trident. At its base level it has an attack power of 22. The only way to get the Lightscale Trident is to have it Dento craft it for Link.

But, players will have to complete the Sidon of the Zora Main Story Quest first and clear the Water Temple. Once these two things are done, players will be able to ask Dento to craft the Lightscale Trident for them. It needs 5 flint, 3 diamonds and a Zora Spear. The Lightscale Trident has the passive ability Water Warrior, which means it's attack power increase when it gets wet.

The Royal Guard's Spear is a rare item that was also in Breath in the Wild. It's part of the Royal Guard set along with Royal Guard Armor that's made up of the Royal Guard Cap, Uniform, and Boots. The armor set, along with the spear can be found within Hyrule Castle. At its base level the Royal Guard Spear has an attack of 18 and has the passive ability Breaking Point.

A weapon with Breaking Point will have its damage increased when it's close to breaking. It has low durability, and with its passive ability it won't take long for the spear to become as strong as it can be, but it also means that players will have to grab another weapon sooner.

The Gloom Spear is by far the strongest spear in Tears of the Kingdom. It's a rare item that can only be found in certain locations where Phantom Ganon appears, and the player must defeat him in order to get it. The Gloom Spear is part of a Gloom Weapon set that includes a Gloom Sword and a Gloom Club.

The Gloom Spear allows Phantom Ganon to move quicker and deliver a flurry of strikes faster than he can with either the Gloom Sword or the Gloom Spear. The Gloom Spear has a base attack of 30, so it's a must-have weapon for anyone that's looking for a powerful spear. Its drawback is that it inflicts Link with Gloom with its passive ability Gloom Toll. Players can remove Gloom by eating meals with Sundelions as an ingredient. The more Sundelions used the more Gloom will be removed.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now on Nintendo Switch.
